The network has recruited BBQ chef Robert Kolbasowski to star in a new series

Bubba brings Texas style barbecue to Philadelphia.

Philideplphia BBQ chef Robert Kolbasowski has been discovered by the Food Network and landed his own TV series, reports. The Texas-born resident of Pine Barrens is known to most as Bubba, the owner of Bubba’s BBQ. The restaurant was opened just last fall with his business partner Steve Ehrenhalt.

The series will be called Bubba-Q and is set to premiere at 10:30 p.m. on August 19th. While many details about the show are under wraps at this point, the Food Network released the following description about the new series:

“Bubba is a Texas-born, Texas-raised good ol' boy who lives and breathes Texas barbecue, but for now, you won't find this grill master in the Lone Star State! Bubba and his family have taken Philadelphia by storm, wowing them with their over-the-top custom grill designs. There is no job too big and no idea too outrageous for Bubba and his crew, as the most unexpected items are masterfully transformed into jaw-dropping, fully-functioning grills.”

Once Bubba landed the show, he decided to take time off and entrusted his restaurant to new chef Mike Buhles.

The Biggest Scandals To Ever Hit The Food Network

Though you might expect tons of scandals from channels like MTV and Bravo, the Food Network has a reputation as the more well-behaved TV sibling. Believe it or not though, that reputation has not been earned — and it's probably not even deserved.

The Food Network has been on the air for decades. First launched in the US in 1993, the cable channel has been aired internationally since 2009. Of course, their path to success has not always been an easy one. As with any other venture, difficulties and scandals are bound to crop up along the way (especially when you're working with reality TV shows), and they are no exception. In fact, the Food Network has had quite a few scandals, and some of those shocking situations have rocked the channel, and it's adoring fans, to their very core. Here are some of the biggest scandals the Food Network has faced over the years.

Wallingford chef featured in new Food Network show

WALLINGFORD — A chef at Tata’s Restaurant’s will be featured in “Chef’s Boot Camp” — a new Food Network show expected to launch soon.

Jaida Nieves has been chef at Tata’s, 34 Center St., for the past two years. “Chef’s Boot Camp” allows chefs from around the country to to work on their skills, according to Jessica Shaw, a show producer.

“They come to Chef Boot Camp and they get mentored for a few days by a high level chef,” Shaw said. “Hopefully by the end they will have improved on all the things they were looking to improve.”

Few other details about the show have been released. According to the casting flyer, the show “combines state of the art training and a little tough love. This boot camp will revitalize and seriously upgrade each chef’s culinary prowess in order to win their boss’ approval.”

Nieves was in New York in November learning new skills that could be applied to Tata’s. She enjoyed the experience.

“When we got there we were able to show them our skills,” Nieves said. “What we like to cook from our places and then the chef wanted to challenge us and have us make some of his recipes as well.”

The mentor chef also had the training chef work in his restaurant for a night, using his recipes and seasonings and experiencing an even more fast-paced environment. While she said the experience was rewarding it had its difficult moments.

“I’m a very strong minded person,” Nieves said. “So I really had to learn how to take constructive criticism and how to keep my kitchen clean and learn new recipes.”

Nieves said when she returned to Tata’s she learned to not take things so personally and accept more responsibility.

Efrain and Monica Nieves, Nieves’ parents and co-owners of Tata’s Restaurant, said they noticed a change in their daughter after the experience. Monica Nieves said things have been “absolutely amazing.”

“Absolutely, I think she has made a lot of progress,” Efrain Nieves said. "She’s doing very good.”

Is Michael Symon Filming a New Food Network Series?

Is chef Michael Symon working on a new Food Network show? writes that Symon has been spotted in the Ohio town visiting popular restaurants like Bubba's Q Barbecue and Flying Fig with a Food Network camera crew. Symon confirmed to the site by telephone that a "new show is in production and that it will likely premiere sometime this summer."

While details about the show are scarce, Symon — a Cleveland, Ohio native — has previously said that he'd like the opportunity to shine a light on "the kinds of places I grew up eating at, and love eating at when I'm not working." Eater has reached out to Food Network for more details.

The news of Symon's alleged new show comes just a few weeks after claims that Bobby and Jamie Deen are in the midst of filming a new series for the network as well. While Food Network says that they have not announced a new series, the Deen brothers have been seen filming scenes for a show supposedly called Southern Fried Road Trip.
